You often see ‘garrigue’ as a taste note. If, like me, you were confused what this means - it’s a herby, shrubby, slightly spicy flavour that takes its name after Mediterranean scrubland.
Like adding rosemary or thyme to chicken, it adds a herbaceous, aromatic taste which is totally savoury and complimentary.
You normally see it on Rhone wines, but this beauty from California is named after it. Counterbalanced with reserved fruit and coastal minerality.
Worth mentioning the Vivino benchmark is ‘user reported’ - I’d value this wine closer to £30.
