Just across the main road from Pouilly Fumé and Sancerre is the Touraine appellation. Just like Pouilly-Fumé, Touraine benefits from the cool climate and clay-siliceous soils that make their Sauvignon Blanc interpretation so famous.

Inexplicably, the wines of Touraine are much cheaper...but so is the random vagaries of the wine world.
