Barón de Chirel was first made in 1986 as the result of an experiment.

Take the oldest vines (up to 110 years old) and the lowest yields, to try and make the highest quality wine possible.

It would be so exclusive and rare so as to be totally unmarketable - an experiment that could never work.

Instead, it ushered in a new era of Riojan wines - ultra premium and critically lauded wines which take their seats among the pantheon of great wines worldwide.

Aged 26 months in Bordeaux style barrels, before a further 2 years rounding off in bottle.
