It’s a small but increasingly prestigious wine district, where a wild diurnal temperature range produces some fabulously balanced and complex white wines.

The soil is also unique: coarse and rare, bringing an unusual flinty minerality to the wines.

So once Fred Loimer had cut his teeth in some of the best wineries in Germany and California, he chose the Kamptal to produce his 92pt Riesling.
