Joao Ramos is on a one man mission to make Alentejo the most prestigious region in the world.
He’s trying to do so by putting insane levels of care and expertise into these artisanal expressions - truly for the ‘wine geek’.
In terms of vinification, this is unique. It’s femernted in traditional, open marble troughs where the grapes are foot-trodden in the old way. Then it’s aged in small French oak barrels of 18 months.
Deep and intense aroma, dominated by ripe black fruits like cassis and blackberries, notes of tertiary aromas resulting from ageing in the barrels contribute for its complexity.
Soft in the mouth, showing well integrated acidity, volume and structure. Long and persistent finish of great elegance.
