Elisabetta Gepetti is the wonder child of Maremma.

She learned her trade from Giacomo Tachis, thought of as the godfather behind wines like Tignanello and Sassicaia.

But it wasn't long before the pupil became the master, and she began to do things rarely attempted on this hallowed of Italian coasts.

Yes, there's the 100pt famed Saffredi, but this wine, we think, is a cut above. This 100% Syrah is aged in clay amphora, as well as 12 months in French oak.

It's earthy and dense and elegant in all the best ways, and one of my favourite wines we've done over the last 3 years.
