Isabelle Ferrando is undoubtedly the Queen of CNDP.
Like many female winemakers, she was initially shunned from the tiny community of Chateauneuf.
Henri Bonneau, 12th generation CNDP winemaker and boss of the eponymous Domaine, took Isabelle under his wing.
It wasn't long before she was experimenting wildly, creating single variety cuvées (highly unusual in CNDP which can often blend up to 13 different varietals).
This experimentation led to some of the most expensive and critically acclaimed wines in the region, like the famed F601 averaging at £600 a bottle.
This is much more approachable in price, but similarly astounding in taste. As Jeb Dunnuck notes, "One thing that remains constant is the incredible quality that continues to emerge from this talented winemaker.”
