Doolhof, Limietberg Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, 2020

Laanie is Afrikaans slang for swanky, upper class, elegant.

Someone wrote of this wine on Vivino that it is 'proper laanie' - and I had to agree. That's because it punches WELL above its weight.

It doesn't cost the world, but it certainly tastes it. Loads of depth, savoury truffle notes, smoky tobacco.

These are the sorts of taste notes you'd read on a Cab Sav costing 10x more. You know, a proper laanie Cab sav.

Doesn't surprise me coming from Doolhof, where, despite being relatively affordable, they take the same rigour to vinification and oak ageing as their more expensive neighbours.

Great bang for buck if you're feeling a bit laanie yourself.
