Domaine Mia, Les Caudroyes Mercurey, 2021

Normally we reserve the word nutty for white wines from Burgundy. But ‘Les Caudroyes’ takes its name from the old French word for ‘hazelnut’.

To be honest, this doesn’t taste like hazelnuts.

But there is an earthy, almost mushroomy funk to this exemplary pinot noir.

Aged 13 months in French oak - one my favourite wine styles this, and well worth the punt if you’re on the fence about spending this much on a bottle of wine!
