You may not have encountered this before. Pinot Auxerrois is an extremely challenging varietal.
It's not like Cab Sav - you could probs make a passable Cab Sav in prison with a bucket and a sachet of yeast.
No, auxerrios can be pretty rough in the wrong hands. But...my goodness is it lovely in the right hands.
It's no wonder that Domaine Schoech falls into the latter camp - storied and acclaimed Alsatian producer that they are.
Rich, full bodied, like the best of Pinot Blanc. Worth the adventure for sure.
