Domaine Francois Crochet, Sancerre, 2023

You might say François Crochet knows his way around a Sauvignon Blanc vine.

He grew up in Bué in the Loire, where everyone eats, sleeps, and breathes Sauvignon Blanc. Then he cut his teeth in the vineyards of Marlborough in NZ, home of the likes of Cloudy Bay.

He came back to the Loire and set up shop in Sancerre - yep, you guessed it, the pinnacle of the world's Sauvignon Blanc craftsmanship.

He's an expert at drawing those incredible flinty, mineral flavours from the soils and up into the grapes.

Time on lees before release gives the wine a lovely textural mouthfeel while a straight line of crunchy acid gives structure and focus.
