You don’t often hear about minerality in red wine.

The other notes (red fruit, oak, chocolate, coffee) are all strong. They can overpower the more subtle mineral flavours.

Occasionally a winemaker manages to make the mineral sing. I often think that’s the sign of a particularly classy, balanced, and elegant red.

This 94pt stunner from the Medoc accomplishes this, with a crushed rock, griotte freshness. The makes this a lovely wine to serve in the summer a touch chilled.
