Chateau Lagrange, Saint Julien, 2020

The 2020 is a vintage of contrasts, a vine grower's vintage. They harvested the smallest crop in 30 years. Some say small yields are evidence of a great wine. Personally? That sounds like sales tactics to me.

However, when Jeff Leve tasted this, he called it Lagrange’s ‘best vintage yet’. That means a lot when levelled at this storied St. Julien producer.

The perfume kicks off with mint, cigar box, black and red currants, black cherries and tobacco leaves.

The wine is just getting started - even better on the palate with its multiple-layers of supple, fresh, vibrant, sweet, ripe fruits, elegant silky tannins, length and purity.
