Chateau Cabrieres, L'Esprit Chateauneuf du Pape Rouge, 2016

Chateau Cabrieres takes its name from the Latin Capraria; a place where goats are raised. This could be the GOAT of Chateauneuf, if you catch my drift.

The vineyard is high up on the plateau in Chateauneuf, with the vintage rolled pebbles that radiate heat throughout the night to bring the grapes to optimum ripeness.

Cabrieres has some serious winemaking history here, looking after 85-year-old vines. Low yielding, high quality fruit is table stakes for these guys. Aged 12 months in French oak.

I LOVE it when the Vivino mob and snooty critics agree - this is a very special wine indeed.
