In the 14th Century, the Pope built a residence in Cheateauneuf.
Back then, it seems like Popes just sort of pissed about and started wars. This Pope in particular fell in love with Chateauneuf wine, elevating it to legendary status for centuries.
One of the defining characteristics is soil made from large, smooth pebbles. Then trap the sun in the day and release it slowly at night, caressing the fruit to perfect ripeness.
This is an OLD SCHOOL number bought, as ever, direct from the producer to save you cash.
A structured wine with a powerful and complex nose featuring ripe fruit, mushrooms, truffles, undergrowth and spiced, wild, animalistic notes.
