Originating from Southern Italy, Primitivo is the typical big, bold, red wine. It's the same grape as Zinfandel - a favourite from California.
It's often high in alcohol and fruit, and low acidity and tannins. Always impressive - I often find, in a blind taste test, Primitivo goes down the best among friends.
The Cantele Primitivo del Salento is made from 100% Primitivo grapes sourced from the Torricella area of Salento in Puglia.
Aged for approximately 6 months in oak barriques this is made in the traditional way.
