Bosco del Merlo, Campo Camino Merlot Riserva, 2020

Soft, smooth, and sophisticated, Merlot makes one of my favourite single varietal wines.

Veneto is dream Merlot territory. The heat is mitigated by the breezes of the Adriatic Sea and cooled by the winds that descend from the Carnic Alps, which guarantee good temperature ranges.

The Bosco del Merlo Campo Camino Merlot Riserva is a first-class example. Bottled with a rock bottom 0.5 grams of residual sugar, this is bone dry.

After being harvested by hand, the grapes are oak fermented, and then spend 12 months in large oak barrels. Finally, this red wine rounds off harmoniously in the bottle for another 4 months.
