Carménère is a medium-bodied red wine that originated in Bordeaux, and now grows almost only in Chile.

When it was first exported, it was actually mistaken for Merlot - and it shares a lot of the same characteristics. Red fruit, warm spice, touch of smoke, medium body - it's the quintessential easy-drinker.

This comes from Colchagua Valley, which is where virtually all of Chile's first class red wine is grown. It's a stone's throw away from Purple Angel which...if you know, you know.

The low altitude of the coastal hills of Colchagua allows Pacific breezes to interact with the Andean winds, cooling the valley and extending the ripening period of the region, which helps to preserve the acidity of the grapes, producing reds with excellent colour, freshness and ageing potential.
